about Pippa Cunningham

Pippa Cunningham paints exclusively outdoors, responding directly to the landscapes before her. Working in gouache from life, she transforms fleeting impressions of light, movement and atmosphere into confident, fluid compositions. Her paintings convey the vitality of place through luminous colour and an instinctive, embodied approach.

Raised on the Welsh coast, Cunningham’s connection to landscape is both personal and enduring. After twenty-five years in London and Brighton, her return to rural Wales has shaped a body of work that views the familiar with fresh eyes. This perspective — at once rooted and rediscovered — gives her paintings a sense of intimacy, clarity and quiet wonder.

A graduate of the Royal College of Art (1994), Cunningham has collaborated with international clients including Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, the Royal Bank of Scotland and Marie Curie. Her paintings have been translated into fashion, accessories and prints and are held in notable private collections. Across Britain, southern Europe and Asia, her work reflects an ongoing exploration of how we see, experience and belong to the natural world.
