about Terry Frost

Terry Frost was a leading figure of the St Ives school whose work is defined by bold, intuitive colour and simplified abstract forms.

Drawing on his experiences of landscape—especially the light and harbour scenes of Cornwall, he used colour not to describe reality but to evoke sensation, rhythm, and emotional response. His paintings often feature arcs, circles, and geometric divisions filled with saturated hues placed in dynamic balance, creating a sense of movement and harmony.
